The grand palace houses the Spada Gallery with works of art\nby greats like Titian and Caravaggio. The palazzo also has a beautiful garden\nfacing the Tiber.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Palazzo Madama<\/span><\/p><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This palace is the seat of the Italian Senate and has a very chequered\nhistory. The Medicis constructed it over the ruins of Nero\u2019s baths near Piazza\nNavona and it is named after Emperor Charles V\u2019s illegitimate daughter, Madama\nMargherita of Austria. Cigoli and Paolo Maruccelli built its fa\u00e7ade in the\n1650s.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Palazzo Altemps<\/span><\/p><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vaticantour.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Palazzo_Altemps_-_salone_1010560-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">One of the lesser-known museums in the Eternal City, this palace is a\nwork of brilliant art in itself. It has ceilings made of frescoed, wooden beams\nwhich add to its old-world charm. It also has some beautiful pieces on display,\nincluding Gaul\u2019s sculpture depicting him killing his wife and himself. It\nmainly focuses on exhibiting archaeological findings from ancient Rome.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Palazzo Mattei di Giove<\/span><\/p><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Carlo Maderno designed this magnificent palace fashioned after 17th\ncentury stately buildings. The palace is worth visiting for its rich collection\nof busts and statues and its multi-storeyed courtyard. Caravaggio, the great\nartist, lived in this palace around 1600.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Palazzo del Quirinale<\/span><\/p><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vaticantour.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Roma_-_quirinale_interno-1024x670.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" \"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The palace is a marvel of interior design and it was commissioned by\nPope Gregory XIII. The finest artists and architects were called upon to build\nthis summer home \u2013 Maderno for the chapel, Domenico Fontana for the fa\u00e7ade and\nGuido Reni for the interiors. The palace is currently one of the three houses\nof the President of Italy. It has been home to thirty popes, four kings and\ntwelve Italian presidents.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Palazzo di Montecitorio<\/span><\/p><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The palace, built as a baroque structure, was designed and constructed\nby the great architect and artist Bernini in 1653. It houses the Italian\nChamber of Deputies. The palace is named after the slightly raised piece of\nland it is built on.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Palazzo Farnese<\/span><\/p><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vaticantour.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Palazzo_Farnese_Rome_Italy-1024x953.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Palazzo Farnese has been recently restored, with restoration works having been done in all 133 square meters of the palace. The palace\u2019s Carracci Gallery houses stunning works of art. A property of the Italian government, the palace is currently the seat of the French Embassy in Italy.
