All Saints Day <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Observed on November 1, \u2018All Saints Day\u2019,\nalso known as Tutti i Santi<\/em> or la Festa di Ognissanti<\/em> is a national\nCatholic holiday. Traditionally, it\u2019s marked as a feast day. Italians celebrate\nthis day to honour all the Christian saints. Many of them visit their families and\ntogether they celebrate the memory of departed relatives and friends. Some\nfamilies even exchange gifts or prepare a grand feast.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the next day, i.e. November 2, we\u2019ve \u2018All\nSouls Day\u2019. In Rome, this is a very special occasion, when people remember\ntheir ancestors and visit cemeteries, where they place candles and flowers on their\ntombstones. They may even share a meal with their beloved deceased.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Roman catacombs, graveyards and\nunderground tunnels witness an influx of visitors on and around November 2.\nMost of the inhabitants of ancient Rome were entombed there. So, plan your day\naccordingly.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roma Jazz Festival<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Helmed by the International Music Festival\nFoundation (IMF), Roma Jazz Festival is a series of jazz concerts that takes\nplace throughout Rome every year usually in the beginning of November. It\u2019s a\nweek-long affair held at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, Casa del Jazz and\nAlcatraz Live.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, the theme of the 43rd<\/sup>\nrendition of the festival is \u2018No Borders\u2019, inspired by relocation, migration\nand integration. The line-up of artists is pretty amazing. The list includes Gabrielle\nCoen, Cory Wong, Archie Shepp, Donny McCaslin, Moonlight Benjamin, Antonio\nS\u00e1nchez, Carmen Souza and Ralph Towner. Roma Europa Festival<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Throughout November, the Roma Europa\nFestival presents a variety of cultural events across Rome. It hosts performing\nartists and musicians at numerous city theatres and auditoriums. The expansive\nprogram includes creative dance performances, contemporary music concerts, films\nand even a parade.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There may be some shows that are free for everyone;\notherwise, an average ticket cost may vary between \u20ac15 and \u20ac40 per person.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feast of Saint Cecilia<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On November 22, Romans commemorate their\nlocal saint, Cecilia. She is also the patron saint of musicians. There are several ways to honour her but the\ncelebration at the Santa Cecilia church in Trastevere district on her feast day\nis one-of-a-kind. The gorgeous 9th<\/sup> Century church is believed to have\nbeen constructed on the original site of the residence of Saint Cecilia. She\nwas a well-to-do woman who lived during the 3rd<\/sup> century.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the church in Trastevere contains a\nmagnificent fresco by Cavallini and an awe-inspiring statue of Cecelia by\nStefano Maderno. A visit to the church is highly recommended.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alternatively, you can also make your way\ndown to the Catacombs of San Callisto, the place where St. Cecilia was\nultimately buried.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
