Giovanni\u00a0dei\u00a0Dolci is the architect and the creator behind the Sistine Chapel, who built it between the years\u00a01473-81 and since then, it\u00a0has stood in all its splendour to be revered by thousands of pilgrims and connoisseurs of art. It is admired not only as an architectural wonder, but also for the\u00a0incredible\u00a0frescoes\u00a0contributed by the great Renaissance maestro, Michelangelo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Michelangelo, from a Sculptor to a Painter of Universal Repute!<\/span><\/h3>\n

Soon after, Michelangelo<\/a>\u00a0would be\u00a0acclaimed all over the world for his works\u00a0in the interior of the Sistine Chapel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sistine Chapel and its Interiors<\/span><\/h3>\n

Sistine Chapel is a rectangular structure built\u00a0out of brick. It has six\u00a0arched windows and a barrel-vaulted ceiling.\u00a0Though the exterior\u00a0of the chapel is quite drab, the interior satiate your artistic senses with the fascinating frescoes\u00a0by some of the most\u00a0sought after Florentine Renaissance masters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0side-walls of the chapel\u00a0are\u00a0decorated with frescoes from 1481-83.\u00a0There are\u00a0six frescoes on the northern wall of the chapel which depict the\u00a0life events of\u00a0Jesus\u00a0Christ.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore,\u00a0there are\u00a0six other frescoes on\u00a0the south wall that illustrate the life of Moses. The frescoes were painted by these artists:\u00a0Perugino, Pinturicchio, Botticelli,\u00a0Domenico and Benedetto Ghirlandaio,\u00a0Rosselli,\u00a0Luca Signorelli<\/a>, and\u00a0Bartolomeo\u00a0della\u00a0Gatta<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

When\u00a0you are done perusing these works of art, you will find some smaller frescoes between the\u00a0windows which\u00a0are clear depictions of\u00a0various popes.\u00a0You\u00a0will also find\u00a0remove tapestries\u00a0running\u00a0down the\u00a0side-walls; these take\u00a0you through the events from the\u00a0\u2018Acts of the Apostles\u2019. All of these\u00a0were created by\u00a0none other than\u00a0the\u00a0famous\u00a0Raphael, who\u00a0crafted them in 1515-19 in\u00a0Brussels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However,\u00a0we can\u2019t end our discussion\u00a0on the Sistine Chapel without talking about the frescoes painted by the most celebrated artist, Michelangelo. On the ceiling of the Sistine chapel\u00a0are illustrations of\u00a0incidents and\u00a0characters\u00a0from the Old\u00a0Testament which are simply beautiful.\u00a0You will find another fresco\u00a0on the altar wall, which\u00a0is\u00a0the world-renowned painting of,\u00a0The Last Judgement.
