The Vatican Area is one of the quieter more residential areas of Rome and home to the up and coming Prati district.
Well connected by Metro or Bus to the Historical Centre and other major sites, the Vatican area offers peaceful and pleasant surroundings away from the crowds once the Vatican Museums are closed for the day.
Along with being one of the safest areas in Rome it also offers some great shopping streets including Cola Di Rienzo and Ottaviano and while the Vatican area isn't perhaps famous for it's eateries, there are some hidden gems to be found if you stay off the main tourist streets.
